Hi all!
Spring Thames Touring Trip ! (Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June 2013)
The journey will start at Henley-upon-Thames to Hurley (8 miles) on the Saturday, with camping overnight should you wish (Or B&B If you prefer but, please make your own arrangements for this), and Hurley, ending near Maidenhead (9 miles) on the Sunday.
We'll leave the South coast at 07:00 on Saturday. After unloading the boats and doing the car shuttle we should be on the water around 10:00ish. Travelling down the river there are lots of historical features to enjoy. At journey's end, the weir at Hurley is well used by top notch freestyle kayakers practising their moves.
The local country pub in the area comes highly recommended for a hot meal in the evening (and it's in walking distance from the camp-site).
After breakkie on Sunday, packing and car shuttles, we’ll get on the water at 11:00 and paddle the remaining leg and should arrive at around 16:00 (Stopping for the customary breaks).
The river is generally described as “flat water” and the trip is designed for paddlers of all abilities. For the younger paddlers who would struggle with the distance, you may want to consider using one of the club's open canoe. If you cannot commit to a whole week-end away, you'd be welcome to join either trip for the day.
There is a river licence charge for non BCU member’s (£11 per boat). The camp-site cost is £19.00 for one pitch (Includes 1 tent + 2 persons as standard) and £4 extra per adult, £2 extra per child (Max 6 persons per tent/pitch).
We will set the 15th May as our own deadline for booking.
If you are planning on coming on this trip, please contact Bruno at your earliest convenience via E-mail
